Syed Javed Ahmed Jaffrey, also known as Javed Jaffrey (born on 4th December 1963) is an Indian film actor, comedian and dancer. He has appeared in multiple movies and television shows. In 2014, he became a politician and joined the Aam Aadmi Party. He is the son of a veteran actor named Jagdeep Jaffrey. He is popular for his roles in comedy movies and shows.

Early Life and Background

Javed Jaffrey was born in Moradabad, Uttar Pradesh, India. His father was a comedian and a veteran actor named Jagdeep Jaffrey. His mother is Sughra Begum and she was a Pakistani activist. He did his schooling at St. Theresa’s High School, Mumbai, Maharashtra and graduated from R. D. National College, Mumbai, Maharashtra. He belongs to a Muslim Family and follows Islam. He has a brother named Naved Jaffrey and a sister named Muskaan Jaffrey. He also has two half-sisters named Suraiya Jaffrey and Shakira Shafi.

Personal life

Javed got married to Zeba Bakhtiar who is a Pakistani actress in the year 1989. However, the couple decided to part ways after a few years of their marriage. He is currently married to Habiba Jaffrey. The couple has two sons namely, Mizan Jaffrey and Abbas Jaffrey and a daughter named Alaviaa Jaffrey. He has a small happy family.

Career

Javed made his acting debut in 1975 with the film titled “Meri Jung.” His role was widely appreciated by the audience. Later, he worked as an anchor in Channel V’s shows namely, “Videocon Flashback” and “Timex Timepass.” He is also the voice actor of  several cartoon characters including “Mickey Mouse,” “Goofy,” and “Don Karnage.” He has done commentary for Pogo’s Japanese TV show “Takeshi’s Castle”. He was the co-founder and the judge of India’s first dance reality show called  “Boogie Woogie.” Jaffrey also conceived, wrote, and choreographed the song “Mumbhai” from the film “Bombay Boys” which became extremely popular and stood at number 1 spot for 6 weeks. He lent his voice to the character of Charlie Anna in the animated film “Roadside Romeo.” in the year 2008. Javed is also an amazing dancer and has shared the stage with the singer and dancer Michael Jackson. He was also the brand ambassador of India’s 1st International Animation and Cartoon Film Festival which was held in 2015.
