Amrapali Kata born on (4th November 1982) is an Indian Administrative Service officer of Telangana Cadre. She was the first ever woman officer to be appointed as the district collector of Warangal urban district in Telangana. She was also one of the youngest candidates to crack the UPSC exam. She cracked the exam in the year 2010.

Early life and background
Amrapali Kata was born in Prakasam, Andra Pradesh, India in a Hindu family to their father, Venkat Reddy Kata, and his mother, Padmavati Kata. She has one sibling. Amrapali follows Hinduism and holds Indian nationality by birth. She completed her schooling at Sai Satya Mandir School in Vishakhapatnam, India. After completing her schooling she cracked the JEE and got admission to the Indian Institute of Technology, Chennai to pursue a B.Tech. She has done her MBA from the Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore. Amrapali cracked the UPSC exam in the year 2010 and became one of the youngest candidates to crack it securing the rank of 39th.

Amrapali Kata is married to IPS officer Sameer Sharma. She got married to him on 18th February 2018. It is speculated that the couple dated for a while before tying the knot. The couple recently celebrated their three-year marriage anniversary.

Career
After doing her MBA FROM the Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore she joined ABN AMRO and worked there for a few years to gain some experience. She cracked the UPSC exam and became an IAS officer. She was appointed as the Sub-collector of Vikarabad in 2013. In 2014 she became the director of the Women and Child Welfare Department. The next year she became the joint collector of Ranga Reddy District of Telangana and finally, in 2016 she became the first women DC of Warangal, Telangana. Amrapali has also been a private secretary to the union minister of state, G. Kishan Reddy. She is famous for her work against improper sanitation, poor hygiene, etc., and for spreading awareness about proper sanitation, unsafe water, etc. She distributed a book named Economics of Sanitation to spread awareness.
