Sana Ganguly (born 3rd November 2001) was born with a silver spoon to former Indian cricketer and the 39th President of BCCI, Sourav Ganguly.  Sana Ganguly is a trained Odissi dancer and is currently studying at England’s Oxford University.  Sana gave her first stage performance by playing the role of Young Krishna in the dance drama “Krishna” when she was just 7 years old.

Early life and Background 

Sana Ganguly was born to parents Sourav Ganguly and Dona Ganguly in Behala, West Bengal. Her father is a former cricketer and 39th President of BCCI. Her mother is an Odissi dancer.

She belongs to a Bengali Kanyakubja Brahmin Family. Her maternal grandparents are Sanjeev Roy and Swapna Roy. Her paternal grandparents are Chandidas Ganguly and Nirupa Ganguly.

Sana Ganguly came into limelight when her father wished her on her 18th birthday with an Instagram post. She did her schooling from La Martiniere for Girls and Loreto House School in West Bengal. For further studies, she went to Oxford University in England.

Just like her mother she is also a trained Odissi dancer and has received her training from Kaushiki Chakraborty.  She gave her first stage performance at the age of seven as young Krishna in the dance drama “Krishna “. 

Controversy 

In 2019, Sana Ganguly was involved in a controversy. In December she expressed her dissent over the crackdown of police on the Jamia Millia Islamia University students, who were protesting against the Citizenship Amendment Act by sharing an excerpt from Khushwant Singh’s book “The End of India” on Instagram. 

While many people appreciated her others criticized her for her actions. After the post received a lot of hate comments her father Sourav Ganguly took to Twitter and said that his daughter was too young to understand Politics and people should keep him out of all the controversy. Later, Sana Ganguly also deleted her Instagram post.

Career 

She did her schooling from La Martiniere for Girls and Loreto House School in West Bengal. For further studies, she went to Oxford University in England. Sana Ganguly is still a student. As per her academic records, she is a brilliant student. She has however never displayed her interest in Cricket. 

She is following her mother’s footsteps and has developed an interest in dancing. She has learned classical dance from Kaushiki Chakraborty. She gave her first stage performance at the age of seven as young Krishna in the dance drama “Krishna”.
